Continuing Education Update |
On this date, a new rule for continuing education went into effect, and will be in force for calendar year 2012. This new rule can be found in the Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC) 46:XXIX, Section 113C. The rule reads that “A residential building contractor shall be required to complete a minimum of six hours of continuing education annually by a board approved provider. Proof of compliance with this requirement shall be filed with the board annually in the format required by the board, as a condition for the maintenance and/or renewal of the license. A contractor who holds a valid, current commercial license in the major classifications of: building construction; highway, street and bridge construction; heavy construction; or municipal and public works construction, shall be deemed to have fulfilled this requirement.” Click Here for LSLBC Statutes and Regs |

Does completing EPA's Lead Training & Certification course and becoming a certified renovator allow a company to undertake lead abatement projects in Louisiana? |
No, a Company must hold a Louisiana State Contractor's license with the classification of LEAD BASED PAINT ABATEMENT AND REMOVAL. This requires a letter of approval from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for this work, among other requirements. |

Important Information Regarding License Verification for Out of State Contractors |
Out of state contractors requesting waivers MUST complete the license verification form (available on this website under "Forms") and submit it to the board of the state in which you are licensed. That board will complete the form and submit it to us. A copy of your out of state license cannot be submitted in place of the license verification form.
The Board cannot approve and issue your license until ALL requirements are met and ALL required documents have been received.

Unauthorized Companies Issuing Surety Bonds (Bid Bonds, Payment Bonds and Performance Bonds) in Louisiana |
On 12/17/2009, the Louisiana Department of Insurance filed a lawsuit against Infinity Surety of Louisiana, Inc., Infinity Surety Agency, LLC, and George D. Black (collectively doing business as Infinity Surety) in the 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge for operating as a surety insurance company without the required insurance licenses. The district court ruled in favor of the Department of Insurance and issued a cease and desist order to Infinity Surety from doing any further business in Louisiana. Accordingly, any surety bonds (bid bonds, payment bonds or performance bonds) issued by Infinity Surety are invalid and cannot be used as security on any public works projects in Louisiana. |

If you did not receive a confirming receipt of payment with an approval code, the Board did NOT receive your online license renewal. |
Please email the Board at info@lslbc.louisiana.gov or call (225)765-2301 x 213 to request that the renewal be reset to allow access to reenter the online renewal site. |

Why can I NOT change my address on the Online Renewal? |
In accordance with Section 105 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board, any change in address of a company, partnership or corporation shall be reported to the board by written notification within 15 days after such change. You may download a change of address form by clicking on the icon on the home page called "Need a Form". Please follow the directions on the change of address form. |

After I renew, WHEN will I receive my RENEWAL CERTIFICATE? |
The normal waiting period is approximately 2 to 3 weeks from the LSLBC receipt of the renewal. If you or your company has failed to receive anything from us (letter, cert, etc.) after 3 weeks from the time the renewal was sent to LSLBC please fax or call to check the status.

MULTI-YEAR RENEWAL Option |
ACT 576 of the 2008 Legislative Session provides for Multi-year opportunites for Commercial, Residential, and Mold Remediation Contractors. Contractors may elect one-,two-, or three-year licensing and renewal not to exceed three years. Also a new license expiration date will be on the aniversary date of the day the license was originally issued. |

TEXAS CONTRACTORS This Board has reciprocity with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for the classification of Electrical Work Only. |
This Board does not reciprocate with Texas for any other classification. To qualify for reciprocity:
A) Licensed as a Master Electrician in Texas for 3 or more years
B) No disciplinary action on your record
C) License verification for must be completed by the TDLR and the TDLR must certify that you, as the qualifying party for your firm, took the ICC examination and that you passed the exam
D) Texas must affix the TDLR seal to the form (The Board will not accept copies which have been faxed and forwarded to this Board).
E) This Board will not accept copies of license or copies of grade notice from ICC as evidence. (TDLR must certify that you took the exam as without certification, we cannot reciprocate). |

As Executive Director, he will serve as the chief operating officer in connection with day-to-day operations. Mr. McDuff is a 1985 graduate of Louisiana State University. |
